OUR CLASSES

At The Arts Academy we take pride in providing quality performing arts education to students of all ages. We offer a variety of dance and performing arts classes to children starting at the age of 2 to adults. Age and experience are considered in the placement of each student so appropriate instruction can be provided. Class schedules will be given in our monthly newsletters. Class observations will be held during the months of December and May only. Parents are asked to wait in the lobby area during normal class days until classes are finished, in order for instructors to have students undivided attention the whole class. Classes will be given a discount if they are taking more than one class. Call or come by to see what they can do...

ACADEMY DANCE CLASSES

BALLET

Ballet is the core of all dance forms. This class will focus on ballet terminology and the proper technique of ballet. This class includes positions, posture training, combinations across the floor, Barre work and Choreography.

TAP

This class focuses on combining rhythm and sound with music.

JAZZ

Students will focus on terminology and proper technique of leaps, turns and other aspects of jazz.

LYRICAL

This class combines elements of ballet, modern and jazz technique in choreography while relating to the lyrics of the song.

BALLET

Ballet is the core of all dance forms. This class will focus on ballet terminology and the proper technique of ballet. This class includes positions, posture training, combinations across the floor, Barre work and Choreography.

POM POM

This class incorporates cheer motions, jumps and precision routines. Dancers will use pom-poms in the routines but will not cheer.

CHEERLEADING

Students will work on jumps, motions, tumbling, cheers and stunts.

HIP HOP

Course will consist of street funk, popping and locking. Students will have a blast learning all the newest trends in the hip hop scene. This is a family friendly class. All movements are "G" rated.

VOCAL MOTION

Students will learn a song and dance to perform at competition level. Younger students will be introduced to voice warm-ups but mostly lip syncing. Auditions will be done in order to participate.

PRE-POINTE

Our pre-pointe classes are designed to teach students proper techniques and help them build strenghth in order to be ready for pointe shoes.

POINTE

Pointe classes are designed for students who have ballet experience or have went through our pre-pointe classes. The classes will teach pointe fundamentals along with feet and ankle strengthing excercises in pointe shoes. Experienced dancers only.

CONTEMPORARY

This class teaches students the rudimentary movements that are the foundation for classical modern dance. Students will focus on contractions, spirals, basic floor work, and elemental concepts of space, time and force.
